Last year was a big year for us. We made the move into the city onto quiet, tree-lined street in Lakeview. We witnessed history in the middle of it all as the championship drought ended for the beloved Chicago Cubs. Our new home made it easier for us to experience more of what Chicago had to offer. We went to well over 30 concerts, ranging from intimate songs from a room to our annual tradition at Riot Fest. We visited and toured new local breweries. We went on our first backpacking trip on North Manitou Island. We made a couple trips to our family cabin in the Ohio backcountry and went camping with friends. And of course, took the trip of a lifetime to Peru where we hiked the famous Inca Trail into the ancient city of Machu Picchu.
It’s now 2017 and it is already shaping up to be a great year. While we have an ever growing list of goals for the new year, our main focus is to push ourselves further. There are a lot of new creative endeavors we have yet to pursue. We would like to try out new mediums, broaden our skill sets and create more. We also hope to push ourselves to visit new places both near and far. Our first big trip of the year is booked and have some weekend explorations planned as well. One downside of living in the city is we have noticed we haven’t been spending as much time outdoors as we would like. This year we plan to add more miles to our hiking boots and make sure our packs are always ready to strap on for adventure
Here is to a 2017 to remember!
