Local music has played a huge role in our relationship. Our conversations started by swapping music suggestions at work. The first time we went out alone together was to a show put on by local folk punk musician Al Scorch at the Empty Bottle. This show was the spark that began our relationship shortly after Riot Fest weekend. Since then we've gone to countless shows together, but our best experiences are always seeing local bands playing our favorite small venues in Chicago (more on that to follow).
For Record Store Day, we decided to hunt for some local vinyl. We headed to our nearest record store, Reckless Records, and were admittedly overwhelmed by the wide selection. Luckily we kept our minds on the task at hand and walked out with a couple of our favorite Chicago musicians - The Orwells and of course, Al Scorch.
Here is a little playlist we've put together of our favorite Chicago musicians. Many of whom you can catch in the neighborhood this Spring and Summer! Check them out and hopefully we'll see you in the crowd!
